The six-part period drama set in a 1950s hospital can currently be seen on TV 2 PLAY. The New Nurses (Sygeplejeskolen) chronicles the early intake and training of male nurses in post-war Denmark, at a time when the country was seriously lacking nurses. It tells the story of a group of nursing students trying to adapt to the strict and outdated nursing education, and having to face the hospital’s authoritarian surgeon and head nurse Ruth.
The cast includes Anna Stokholm, Asta Kamma August, Katrine Greis-Rosenthal, Molly Blixt Egelind, Morten Hee Andersen, Jens Jørn Spottag and Anette Støvelbæk among others. The creative team behind the series consists of co-writers Claudia Boderke and Lars Mering, director Roni Ezra and SF Studios’ producer Senia Dremstrup.
