The Ove Sprogøe Award, one of The Nordisk Film Foundation’s three annual honorary awards in Denmark, was handed out Thursday evening at The Polar Bear Awardshow. The award is given to a Danish actor for an extraordinary performance on TV, film or in the theatre during the past year.
This year, Esben Smed was selected especially for his strong lead performances in Bille August’s A Fortunate Man and in Niels Arden Oplev and Anders W. Berthelsen’s Daniel, but also for his leading role as Nicky in the acclaimed DR series Follow the Money. Congratulations!
Previous award winners are Katrine Greis-Rosenthal, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ulrich Thomsen, Danica Curcic and Nikolaj Lie Kaas among others.
