Congratulations to Esben Smed for winning Best Actor at the SVEND Awards for his leading role in Niels Arden Oplev and Anders W. Berthelsen’s Daniel (Ser du månen, Daniel). The movie was also awarded Best Danish Film. 

The award show took place last night at Scala Svendborg and was hosted by Rasmus Bjerg. Due to the current assembly ban the award show couldn’t take place at the City Hall Square where thousand of people usually gather for this event. Instead the entire show was live-streamed.

The SVEND Awards is a well established event in the Danish film industry. It differs from the Danish Film Academy Award Robert and the Danish Critic Association Award Bodil being the only Danish Film Award where it is the audience who decide the winner.
