Stine Stengade has been decorated with the Order of Dannebrog (Ridder af Dannebrogordenen). The award is the equivalent to the Knight of Bachelor that precedes the title “Sir” in the English monarchy. Kasper Holten, director at the Royal Danish Theatre, presented the royal orders to artists and staff at the Royal Danish Theater at an event held on December 3, 2018.
Earlier this year, Stine Stengade could be seen in Scenes from a Marriage which played at the Sydney Opera House in October. In this acclaimed production of Ingmar Bergman’s classic from the Royal Danish Theatre, the gender roles are reversed. Thus, Johan’s lines are given to Marianne, while her sentences, persona, and problems are presented by Johan.
