Josefine Frida Pettersen stars as 19-year-old Mirjam, the world champion in freestyle disco dancing who starts questioning her faith after suffering panic attacks during a competition. When she is no longer able to dance, she looks for answers with a fundamentalist Christian congregation.
Disco was presented at last week’s Göteborg Film Festival. The film is directed by Jorunn Myklebust Syversen whose 2017 debut feature The Tree Feller (Hoggeren), starring Anders Baasmo Christiansen, was nominated for two Amanda Awards. Disco is produced by Maria Ekerhovd of Mer Film, who also produced The Tree Feller, and the premiere is set for autumn 2019.
