Netflix’s Danish original The Chestnut Man is created by The Killing’s Søren Sveistrup for SAM Productions and stars Danica Curcic, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard and David Dencik. The six-part series which is currently filming in Copenhagen, is based on Sveistrup’s novel by the same name.
The character-driven psycho thriller follows ambitious young detective Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic) and her partner Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), who investigate the brutal murder of a young woman, found in a playground, with one of her hands missing. Above her hangs a small doll made of chestnuts. The seasoned writer is co-creator with writers Dorte Høgh, David Sandreuter and Mikkel Serup (The Killing) who also directs.
The series is set to launch on Netflix worldwide. Premiere date is still to be announced.
