The Nobel Prize laureate Eugene O’Neill’s psychological family drama Long Day’s Journey into Night world premiered in 1956. The play is widely considered to be his masterpiece and one of the finest American plays of the 20th century.
The modern classic can now be seen at Aalborg Theatre directed by Egill Pálsson. Henrik Birch stars as the father James Tyrone, a once promising Shakespearean actor who has shaped his life around a popular one-time success. Birch is joined on stage by Annika Johannessen as his morphine-addicted wife, Mary, and Lars Topp Thomsen and Ferdinand Falsen Hiis as his sons.
