Johannes V. Jensen’s epic masterpiece The Fall of the King is a cornerstone of Danish culture and identity. It tells the story of Mikkel Thøgersen (Joen Højerslev) and the social entanglements which bring him into the service of King Christian II of Denmark (Peter Christoffersen). The play is staged with raw sensuous emotions by Catalonian director Carlus Padrissa, co-founder of the world-famous total theatre La Fura dels Baus. The production is a collaboration between Aarhus Theatre and the Royal Danish Theatre.
The Fall of the King premiered in Copenhagen on November 16 and runs until December 21 after which it plays at Aarhus Theatre from January 10 – February 9. Read more and buy your tickets here.
