The case of Thomas Quick is Sweden’s biggest legal scandal ever. In the 1990s, Thomas Quick confessed to more than 30 murders and was convicted of eight, making him Sweden’s most notorious serial killer. In a documentary by Hannes Råstam, which aired on Swedish television in December 2008, Quick withdrew all his confessions and was finally acquitted of all murders.
The upcoming feature is being directed by Mikael Håfström. The movie is inspired by Råstam’s book Thomas Quick: The Making of a Serial Killer and the script is written by Norwegian author Erlend Loe. David Dencik will star as Thomas Quick. The Swedish journalist Hannes Råstam will be played by Jonas Karlsson, and Alba August will be playing the researcher Jenny Küttim.
Quick is produced by Helena Danielsson, Brain Academy in co-production with Film i Väst, Umedia, Belgium and Nordisk Film. Shooting of the film starts this fall and it is expected to have a Swedish cinema premiere in the fall 2019.
